If I had not seen this makeshift bridge before now, I would have not believed in the reality I am seeing today just like it will be difficult for anyone to believe that the makeshift bridge is now transformed into a complete four span modern bridge.
I captured the above two pictures myself; the first was six Months ago while the last was early hours of today as we went to see the level of development that has occurred in the bridge. We were happy when we got there to see that so much have happened in the scene within just six months.
This Bridge serves as a major connector between Ogwu community and Mgbede, Ishiagu in Ivo LGA of Ebonyi state. Before now, it was usually tasking on the part of Ogwu people to cross the Makeshift Bridge to their major farm land called Ani-Ojii which is located just before the Mgbede village as whosoever that is making use of the temporal bridge is certainly risking his/her life.
However, the bridge has been transformed beyond recognition. The farmers can now freely go to their farm lands and transport their farm produce to different markets with ease.
The relationship between the two communities has also been strengthened as their means of interaction is now easier unlike before that it is life risking to mingle across the makeshift bridge.
We are indeed grateful to the governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi who is making the impossible now possible. You can easily strike the difference between the Abakaliki of yesterday and the New Abakaliki of our dream through the striking difference between the Ogwu Makeshift Bridge and Modern Ogwu Bridge.
God Bless Governor David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE.
