Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau is currently on the run since when Chad Army Captured 95% of its members.
Boko Haram was founded in 2002 by Muhammed Yusuf in Northeastern Nigeria, that since 2009 has carried out assassinations and large-scale acts of violence in the country. The group’s initial proclaimed intent was to uproot the corruption and injustice in Nigeria, which blamed on western influences, and to impose Shariah, or Islamic law. Later the group vowed to avenge the deaths of Yusuf and other group members, who were killed by security forces in 2009. In 2015 the group pledged allegiance to the Islamic state in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and took the name Islamic state OR West African Province (ISWAP; also known as Islamic state in west Africa, or ISWA). The next year the group split, with one faction retaining that name and the other reverting back to the original appellation.
The name Boko Haram, which means “Westernization is sacrilege,” was given to the group by neighbors based on how they viewed its lifestyle and teachings. This, in Turn, was popularly interpreted as “Western education is a sin” or western education is forbidden.”
Boko haram gained widespread exposure inJuly 2009 when, after an incident in which group members were allegedly subjected to the excessive use of force by police and then were unable to get official investigation into the matter, the group launched attacks on police stations and other government installation, killing scores of police officers. When the police could not bring the situation under control, the army was brought in .
The ensuing joint military task force operation left more than 700 Boko haram members dead and destroyed the mosque that the group used as its headquarters. Yusuf and other leaders were arrested by the military and handed over to the police. A few days later the bullet-riddled that of his father-in-law, Baba Fugu Mohammed, who had willingly handed himself over to the police for questioning-were displayed in public; the extrajudicial killings by the police infuriated the group as well as others.
After that incident, Boko Haram appeared to be disbanded, or at least inactive, until the next year, when a video was made public in which Yusuf’s deputy, Abubakar Shekau, declared that he was the group’s new leader and vowed to avenge the deaths of Yusuf and others. And since then, Shekau have been killing and causing pains to innocent Nigerians.
Just when they said, “Nothing last forever.” Abubakar Shekau, who used to make different kind of videos talking about how tough he is and that he is unconquerable has now turn from unconquerable to conquerable.
Ever since Chad army have killed not less than 1000 members of boko haram and seized all their weapons, Shekau who is good at making videos, bragging about power has nothing to brag about anymore as he remain silent and on the run.
The Chadian army launched an attack on Boko Haram Jihadists in the lake Chad border region on April 9, 2020, which was lead by the Chadian president Idriss Deby, in which 52 troops and 1,000 Jihadists were killed and thousands of Ammunitions were seized from the terrorist group.
Last week, the Nigerian Chief of army staff (COAS) Lieutenant General T.Y Buratai called and addressed operation Lafiya Dole that now is the best time to wipe out the fleeing Boko haram terrorists after Chad operation. The army chief vowed not to leave the Northeast until he sees the end of Boko haram.
Yesterday a video of men of the Nigerian army dancing and singing went viral as it was reported that they have captured the last group of the terrorists.
Now the only person that left in the terrorist group is Abubakar Shekau which he is currently on the run.
Earlier Monday this week a report was made that Shekau is loking for way to surrender which we believe he will soon surrender as he has no one left to back him up and no where to hide anymore.
That shows that whatever you are doing in this life, always remember that everything that has the biginning must surely come to an end. who ever thought Shekau will give up easil. A Powerful man become powerless.
