Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has congratulated some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who recently were led by the former state Chairman Charles Ezekwem to decamp to the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), saying they took a wise and patriotic decision which he said was not unusual.
The governor made this commendation at the Sam Mbakwe Exco Chamber were he hosted the decampees who had earlier made their declaration public at the APC state party secretariat.
He said the collective desire of all patriotic politicians is to strengthen democracy, irrespective of political party and said he is willing to welcome all Imo people of goodwill who wishes to join hands with him and build the state, as according to him, no one man can be able to build the state.
“We know ourselves, nobody is decamping, you did not decamp, you just came back home because you know your leader and we know who is who. I am sure you are aware that if you did not come today, after the Coronavirus I would have looked for you people”.
“Those who are against this government are those who wrecked the state and want to be protected illegally. We are not going to to kill them but we will at least recover some of the things in their hands and channel them towards bettering the lots of the people.
The South East Zonal Chairman of the party,…..who represented the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole eulogized Governor Hope Uzodinma who he said has brought lots of good fortunes since his entrance into the party. He on behalf of the National Chairman welcomed the defectors into the party and assured them of a level playing ground.
Speaking, Imo State Chairman, Prince Marcelinus Nlemigbo posited that the decampees were not joining because they were looking for party, but because of the quality leadership of Governor Hope Uzodinma.
He said the governor rewarded those who have been with him and will also reward those who have joined. He disclosed that some who are still in the PDP will soon join as they have been giving signal of their intention.
Earlier while speaking at the reception, leader of the decampees, Charles Ezekwem had informed the governor that they came to be part of the good works he was doing in the state, describing him as a team player who carries everyone along and rewards loyalty.
He listed the decampees which comprised of some former state executive and local government executive members of PDP and informed that another reason for their decamping was the injustice they suffered in the hands of the aborted government of Ihedioha which they played active role to install.
