FOUNDER of Biafra Independence Movement and the Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra BIM-MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has lamented the continued repression and oppression meted out to Ndigbo by the federal government, beginning from the 1960s.
Uwazuruike, who was represented by his personal assistant on media matters, Elder Chris Mocha, reiterated his willingness to continue to fight until the actualisation of a sovereign Biafra.
He said that Uwazuruike has vowed that he would be ready to pay the supreme price for the pursuit and achievement of a sovereign republic of Biafra.
The pro-Biafran leader made the assertion during a meeting of the leaders of Biafra Internal Government, BIG, of Okigwe area, held at Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
“The compilation of factual evidences of the atrocities against Ndigbo (Biafrans) as carefully put together by members of BIM-MASSOB, Indigeneous People of Biafra, IPOB, Biafra Zionist Federation, BZF, and others have exposed the wickedness and insensitivity of the rest of Nigerians towards Ndigbo,” he said.
Uwazuruike regretted that the unceasing and perennial attacks/killings recorded by the members of MASSOB from 1999 to recent times were part of the atrocities perpetrated by the federal government against the people of Biafra which started in 1960, saying there is no end of killing in sight.
“The atrocities against the Igbo by the Nigerian state and her foreign collaborators were so alarming to ignore or to forgive and forget. It is important to inform the global community that it is only an independent Biafra that could stop the marginalisation and suppression that our people are facing in Nigeria. The resultant effect had shown why and where the minds of our people are; and that their minds are certainly not in Nigeria but in Biafra republic,” he said.
Uwazuruike commended the print and electronic media in Nigeria for their courage in standing firmly and fearlessly with him over the years of the struggle by their factual reportage of incidents of the members’ arrests, detained without trial, killings and other forms of dehumanising treatment meted to him.
The BIM-MASSOB boss who recounted the serial attacks on him and by Nigerian security operatives recalled, with dismay, how they paraded him naked before an Abuja High Court in 2007 and other forms of rights abuses committed during this period under review.
“With the collation and submission of the atrocities against the people of Biafra during and after the civil war where we lost about three million lives and from 1999 till the present time of struggle, to the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation, UNPO, Biafra case had automatically become an international affair to be handled by them and based on these evidences, the sovereignty would be granted to Biafra in no distant period of time,” he added.
He assured the UNPO, that the next generation of the people of Biafra will be treated fairly and equally as free citizens, promising that there will not be second class citizens in the emerging new republic.
