Why I Joined The Agitation For Biafra “Injustice. Nigeria is a hell fire on earth”. Biafra Will Become An Independent Nation Soon

“They thought that I would die. One of the military personnel said to me ‘so you no die?’ and told me that I will die painfully after he bath me with the raw chemical.”

After the civil war, the quest for a Republic of Biafra became a recurring demand in Nigeria by natives of the old eastern region of the country.

Despite the constant agitation by different separatist administrations, the renewed agitation was not considered ‘a threat’ by the Nigeria government until the emergence of Mr. Nnamdi Kanu and his group known as The Indigeneous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Marches, gathering and the commemoration of the civil war by the group met the use of force by the Nigerian army which arrested and killed the unarmed agitators.

Tensions increased further after the arrest of the leader of the pro-Biafra group, Nnamdi Kanu, on October 14, 2015.

In 2016, the Amnesty International indicted the Nigerian army-led security forces with the report that they had launched “a chilling campaign of extrajudicial killings and violence that resulted in the deaths of at least 150 peaceful pro-Biafra protesters” in the south-east region of the country. But to date, justice has not been done.

At Aba National High School on February 9, 2016. The Nigerian army surrounded the pro-Biafra demonstrators, then shot them with live ammunition. The clampdown, murder and arrest continued until this day.

A victim of the security forces’ brutality, which left him with the aftermath scar, told Africa Guardian how he was shot and bathed in crude acid.

“My name is Okechukwu A. Solomon, I’m from Umuahia province in Abia state BiafraLand. May and June 2016 is the worst year in my life.”

How It Happened

“The cause of the scar on my body happened on May 30, 2016. — Every 30th of May we Biafrans do remember our heroes and heroines who died during Biafra genocide- war by Nigeria government through the help of the British government. On, May 30, 2016 as we went to Anambra state, the venue for the event, Nigeria government with her armed forces said that the Biafra memorial day will not hold that if we try it that they will kill us.

“….they shot us that day during the event, with lives bullets. Hundreds of us died, I sustained two bullets injuries and they poured me raw acid.”

They Pour Acid On Others Too

“….they also poured acid on others they shot dead. They thought that I would die. One of the military personnel said to me ‘so you no die?’ and told me that I will die painfully after he bath me with the raw chemical. What I and my fellow Biafrans that were injured with passed through in the hands of Nigeria military and police is like being in lions’ den.”

Life After The Incident

“In fact I no longer never enjoy good health, I always fall sick every month despite many medical treatment. IPOB leadership have been taking care of me from the very day that I was released from Onitsha prison and taken to hospital.”

Why I Joined The Agitation For Biafra “Injustice. Nigeria is a hell fire on earth”. Biafra Will Become An Independent Nation Soon

“I believe that an independent State of Biafra will be restored. Biafra is the hope of my people here in BiafraLand, it is the hope of Africa at large. No body can hinder the restoration of sovereign state of Biafra. Only the freedom of Biafra will heal the wounds in my heart.”
