Governors of the 19 Northern states of Nigeria have rejected the call for total disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
The Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong, made this public while speaking to journalists after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Thursday.
Governor Lalong says SARS is still relevant for the fight against all expressions of insecurity in the north.
He added that the SARS is not made up bad eggs insisting that there are also people of integrity in the group.
He pointed that what is needed is a reform of the Group.
Lalong, however, acknowledged that there were divisions in the country concerning the continued existence of the unit.
