Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff, has maintained that the Nigerian soldiers were professional in its conduct.
Tukur Buratai, remarked while reacting to a report by CNN on the shooting of #End SARS Peaceful protesters at Lekki toll gate.
Recall that Nigerian Army deployed to Lekki toll gate Lagos State were accused of shooting and killing #End SARS Peaceful protesters at Lekki toll gate.
But, the 81 Division of the Nigerian soldiers had denied shooting or even killing #EndSARS protesters at Lekki toll gate.
However, CNN had released an investigative report showing how Nigerian soldiers had shot at Peaceful protesters on a fateful day.
Reacting to the report, the Chief of Army Staff said the Nigerian Army would never operate outside the rules of engagement.
On Wednesday, The Chief of Army Staff spoke while receiving members of the House of Representatives committee on Army at the Army headquarters.
In his statement, Tukur Buratai said: “Let me assure you and all Nigerians that the Nigerian Army is professional. We follow our rules of engagement. Nigerians should feel safe.
“We abide by rules of engagement and the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.”
