Joe Igbokwe, a popular social media personality from the South-East and spokesman for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has now taken to his Facebook handle to issue a quite controversial message concerning the Nigerian flag. Joe Igbokwe reacted to a recent viral image of a Nigerian Model, holding a stained Nigerian flag during a fashion parade recently.
In the image which has now gone viral, the Nigeria model displayed a stained Nigerian Flag, apparently to draw attention to recent happenings in the country. Some nationalists have since blasted her for the action, describing it as being unpatriotic. Many others also argue that the action depicts great disrespect towards the country, as the flag is a symbol of national heritage hence, it should not be mishandled or used to portray negative information.
In his own reaction, Igbokwe affirmed that the people that really matter as do not carry “Zobo” stained flags as Nigerian flags. The people who truly matter carry an unstained flag bearing the two colors of the country, green and white according to Igbokwe who serves as an aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State. Igbobwe also shared the picture of Blessing Okagbare while she was holding an unstained Nigerian flag. Blessing is a well known athlete who has represented the country in several sporting events.
