The face of Notorious bandit leader, Turji Kachalla was revealed yesterday by former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode on his official Facebook page. Turji Kachalla had once boasted that he had the power to invite top terrorists across the world to come and destroy Nigeria. His team had engaged in terrorism, banditry and kidnapping.
However, Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi who preached and taught the bandits about Islam, claimed that they were peaceful people and that the repentant ones should be given amnesty.
We have seen multiple reports where repentant Boko Haram members were granted amnesty. But the fear in the minds of many is if their repentance is genuine or they just want to pose as friends and work as spies.
The Federal Government had made it clear that it would not negotiate with criminals or pay any ransom. The statement made by Turji Kachalla is what I considered a threat to national security.
Turji Kachalla boasting that he can invite terrorists across the world to destroy Nigeria proves he doesn’t recognise the sovereignty of Nigeria, and that’s a big offence.
The only thing that is constant in life is change, so if peradventure Turji Kachalla repents of his evil and seek forgiveness, will the Federal Government be willing to grant him amnesty after he threatened the country?
