The Nigerian government has expended N4.5billion on feeding 228,646 pupils in Gombe State.
The funding by the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) commenced in 2016, NAN reports.
Umar Bandir, NSIP National Coordinator gave the figure on Thursday at a meeting with state officials.
Bandir represented the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq.
The official said a total of 1,234 schools in Gombe had benefitted since inception.
The federal government is considering increasing funds for the programme to accommodate more children, he disclosed.
Secretary to Gombe State Government, Abubakar Njodi, promised that the 225,000 newly-donated branded plates would be used judiciously.
